Fantastic lightweight ultra-wide angle lens for Sony FE! Update 10/23/2019So I got another copy of this lens, and it turned out it is way sharper at F2.8, especially in the center. This lens is NOT sharp. The lens is made of plastic, except for the mount, and is very light, which, while a plus for some folks, makes it feel like a cheap plastic toy. Auto-focus works fine, as well as all other features on my Sony A7RII camera body. The lens mounts smoothly with no free-play. Manual focus is by wire, but works reasonably well. Optically the lens leaves A LOT to be desired. The overall contrast and color saturation are low, which may be OK for some situations, but in general it does not work. At 2.8…
Some I hear are not sharp, mine is. I guess either I got a good copy or Samyang have fixed their production issue. Fast, sharp and light weight. Bought for travel work, and kit weight reduction. First results are excellent. Yes, it’s a plastic toy feeling lens, but it does deliver, so I’ll take it. Buy it, for what it is, you’ll be happy with it
