One of the most versatile focal lengths available, the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens from Canon pairs this classic lens design with enhancements to the AF system and physical design that make it both faster and smaller. Utilizing an STM stepping motor, this lens is ideal for both still and video shooting due to its speedy and smooth operation. PERFECT for portraits! I have Canon 650D camera and just had kit lens 18-55mm but I wanted something more. I have a daughter and she is my main model and also I work as part time family portrait photographer so I needed portrait lens but not very expensive ones. And this lens are PERFECT for portraits!!! Love the lens Love the lens…HOWEVER…the accessories that come with the lens are not as described. It says that it comes with a 49 mm lens hood – WRONG – it comes with a 58 mm lens hood with an ‘adaptor’ that makes it fit the 49 mm lens. The problem with that is once the adapter is on, the lens cap no longer fits the camera. So, if you have the hood on (with the adaptor), you can’t get the lens cap on. In order to get the cap back on the lens, you must remove not only the hood, but also the adaptor. A…

because I LOVE this lens I’ve had my Rebel for almost a year now and since receiving my 50mm lens a few weeks ago, I have taken more pictures than I have the entire year, because I LOVE this lens!! When I was looking at reviews I wanted to see pictures taken with the lens to get an idea of what it could do. This lens makes photography fun and easy. The pictures are so crisp and beautiful. I can’t wait to try some landscapes.
