Nice choice for Sony E-Mount ( with MC-11) I have rented this lens several times, and finally bought it because of the great price on this package. The Sony 100-400 (which I have also rented) is almost 4 times that cost. For the price and performance, this lens is a steal.The lens is light for the focal length and sharp. The OSS works very well, and the autofocus is fast, especially on the A7III or A6500, with up to date firmware. The customizable buttons (for which you need the dock) are really useful. Still,…
Outstanding value This lens offers amazing photos for the value. If you are using a crop sensor camera you are really getting a 640mm lens for this price. The filters that come with this are junk so do not use them. The CP filter caused pictures to be out of focus, see above pictures of this. Don’t ruin this lens by using them. Great lens relative to the low price, but requires a ton of light I need more time to get a real feel for this lens, but so far everything about it is great except for the f5-6.3. I thought that would be fine for daytime wildlife photography, but it needs a ton of light. Expect to use very high ISO in most conditions if you want a fast enough shutter speed to handhold.That aside, this is fast to focus, feels really sturdy and solid, and the controls are simple and robust.
