No auto-focus with entry level cameras A word of warning to casual camera users and non-experts: this lens will not auto focus with your DLSR unless your camera specifically has a button to turn auto focus off and on (autofocus motor in the camera body). I have a Nikon D3400 and it works great, but all its settings are manual. You have to use the screen to determine how your picture will look, and then I would recommend exposure compensating up and down just to make sure. Zoom in on the screen to make sure your subject is properly…

First off need to know: this uses the older screw-linkage autofocus and will not focus on many recent Nikon SLRs including the D40/60, D3000 and D5000 series, and possibly other budget series I may be missing. Worth every penny for fun fun fun! Get this lense and LEARN YOUR CAMERA! I got this lense for my D3400. Yes it’s manual and that is what I wanted. If you REALLY want to learn photography and what you camera can do. Pop this lense on, go out with nothing else and start taking pictures. Do it in broad daylight and learn your camera.
