Great video camera! My grandson is getting into shooting videos for class projects, but the audio from the built-in microphone on his Nikon D3100 was mediocre. This camera has a 3.5mm external microphone jack that we paired with a Rode VideoMicro Compact microphone. The key to getting this microphone to work was to experiment with the camera’s manual microphone sensitivity. For indoor shooting we found that a sensitivity setting of 8-10 worked best.
