Great Lens for action photos and has metal mount ring. I actually ordered this “USM” lens by mistake (thought it was the STM version). However, I like it very much. Yes, the STM is “possibly” smoother for “constant focus” video, but I believe this one actually focuses “faster” that the STM for photos. So, if you are shooting action photos, this may be the way to go. I ordered the STM version this week as well, and I am going to do a side by side comparison. I don’t normally shoot video. Love this lens Love this lens! I was able to replace the 2 kit lenses my Canon Rebel T3i came with and now I just use this lens and my 50mm 1.8 lens. My pictures with this lens are tack sharp and I love how I can’t hear the autofocus – very quiet! The perfect lens to take with for big family events, concerts, etc. If you want a good universal lens without spending a small fortune, this is the perfect lens.
