Sigma 18-300mm 3.5-6.3 DC HSM OS Macro Lens for Nikon
– The Sigma 18-300mm 3.5-6.3 DC HSM OS Macro is another impressive addition to the Sigma Global Vision Contemporary line. With a 16.6x zoom ratio covering focal lengths from wide to telephoto, this lens also offers a 1(cat) macro ratio.
– The Sigma 18-300mm Contemporary was designed for APS-C cameras where it equates to a 27-450mm lens and incorporates state-of-the-art Sigma technology. An enhanced optical stabilizer (OS) compensates for camera shake, while an optimized hyper sonic motor (HSM) ensures quiet and fast autofocus. Four FLD (performance equal to fluorite) paired with 1 SLD glass elements capture incredible sharp and contrasted images, all the way through the focal length.
– Utilizing top quality glass, the Sigma 18-300mm Contemporary controls aberration, even at the telephoto end to produce high quality images.

It is a one lens traveling wonder I will be traveling very soon to the Middle East and wanted as few lens as possible to take with me. I chose this lens which works well in sunlight and early evening. However, it is not the best in low light situations, especially at the 300mm range. So I am also taking a Canon 18-135mm lens fo those night shots. As a one lens solution, it works well.Took the lens out for a spin before departure. I expected some flare, vignetting and distortion at the 18mm or 300mm extremes and…

Sort of unfair test but illuminating. I just received this lens yesterday. Today I “tested” it against a Canon 24-105 f4.0 L lens. No doubt the Canon I tested against is sharp, especially since the sensor on an APS-C camera doesn’t use the edges of the Canon full frame lens. So since theCanon L is a full frame lens the test isn’t completely fair.At comparable focal lengths the Sigma held up very nicely. I tested at 24mm, 50mm & 105mm wide open and at f11. I also tested the Sigma at 18mm, 200mm & 300mm. The camera…

A very good deal for an excellent general use lens with accessories. The lens is a nice multi-purpose all around lens. It reduces the need to carry a lot of extra lenses for general photography. It operates smoothly and there is enough drag on the zoom to keep it in place when the camera hangs from my neck. I was pleasantly surprised by the backpack too. It’s a nice heavy duty pack that carries plenty of my extra stuff without having a large bulky backpack along for the few things I regularly use from it. Everything fits nicely for a day-pack. I like the filters…
