When they extend, they suck in air. If there’s any dust, it may get sucked in and eventually you’ll get dust on the sensor and some of your pictures may show some blotches. This older model is awesome!! I know it is an older model, but the picture quality of this camera is awesome and met my expectations. I did not want to invest in a newer model since this camera offers all I need. I want to take great pictures in a compact camera when I travel. I do not care about 4k videos or touch screen features that newer models offer. This camera records awesome videos as well. Before I ordered it, I did a lot od research on Flickr and Youtube. I am very happy with my purchase!
